Barbezieus Rugby Club from the Cognac Region of France arrived at City of Derry Rugby Club last Saturday Night for their Bi-Annual Tour. This will be the third time that they have visited the City with Derry having enjoyed two visits to France.
The French will have 39 Children and 25 Adults with the Children being hosted at homes of Club Members. The Adults stay in rented accommodation in the City Centre so they are only walking distance from Café’s, Bars and Tourist Attractions.
There is a comprehensive itinerary arranged while the French are in the City. There will be rugby training and games with City of Derry RFC children along with visits to Donegal and North Antrim Visitor Attractions.
There will be a Mayoral Reception for Barbezieux Rugby Club on Thursday in the Guildhall before their departure back to France on Friday morning.
This French Exchange Program has been an outstanding success over the last six years and it has become an extraordinary educational experience for Children and Adults on and off the pitch as they embrace difference in culture and language. The Mini Rugby Section at City of Derry Rugby have been the motivation behind this program with Scott Pollock and Alison Milligan as their leaders.
