When Bruff scored a converted try in the 78th minute to put them three points in the lead, not even the most faithful of that faithful band of Ballymena supporters could see a way back, especially as they had to kick off and give the ball to the opposition. But they managed to win the ball back, attack downfield, win three penalties, which they ran, and laid siege to the Bruff line. Sustained drives by the Ballymena pack were met with dogged resistance, but eventually Connor Smyth got the touchdown for the winning score.Tim Smalls’ conversion brought the final score to 19-15, and the win (aided by results elsewhere)has taken Ballymena back to the top of the table. Definitive proof that Father Christmas does exist!
