Malone had inflicted a fairly heavy defeat on Ballymena in the first UCL game of the season at Gibson Park, but there was some optimism that could be reversed at Eaton Park. Such optimism proved to be totally unfounded, as Malone outplayed the home side, scoring nine tries, amassing sixty points to Ballymena’s three. The seconds, however, did achieve a measure of revenge for e heavy defeat by Malone 2nds, winning by 20-7.
