Solid Ards defence held firm and turned the screw on a good Skerries side to see the Ards men defend superbly and win 19 points to 12. There has been further progression in squad work at Ards with self discipline to the fore and it paid of on Saturday against a strong Skerries out fit who would have been strong favourites for this game. The attacks and counter attacks where powerful and exciting control and emphasis on fast recycling of the ball good use of pick and goes, the pack stood out scrum time and in fact a very well deserved penalty try was awarded after 4 successive Ards penalties from scrums actually saw them advance from somewhere near half way down to the Skerries line where the penalty try was awarded. The Skerries side where no waifs in the front row so it is a real good judge of the continuing work at Ards that the scrum not only held its own against Skerries but was much stronger.
The centres and back line equally exciting and again excercising self discipline and creating numerous line breaks and ball carries down the wing and channels. This side have been aware for some time of the quality / mayhem they can produce and that controlled and self discplined side of play is really allowing their quality to shine through. A very well deserved and well earned victory.
