4 Steps to Shopping for a Kitchen Faucet

4 Steps to Shopping for a Kitchen Faucet

Your kitchen sink is one of the areas in your home where most of the dirt and washing takes place. Some people may consider the faucet to be just a means to get water to the sink. However, you need a checklist when choosing a faucet. If you are not sure of the steps to take or which brand from the hundreds that are in the market to pick from, check kitchenfaucets.reviews for details.

Find out which faucet is suitable for your sink

There are different designs of kitchen sinks. Some faucets are more compatible with some kitchen sinks than others. It is important to find out if the faucet you are considering to get is ideal for the sink. If you would like to change the faucet on an existing sink, check how many holes are covered by the mounting plate. Faucets have between one and four hole versions. If you buy a faucet without considering the sink configurations, you may end up with a faucet that is not compatible with the sink. For example, you might buy a faucet that uses two holes, yet your sink might have four.

Find the location of the mounting holes

Besides considering the number of mounting holes, you also need to check the location. Most faucets are fixed at the centre of the sink, whether you have a single or double sink. However, it is best not to take the mounting position for granted since some faucets are mounted from the side. If you discover that your faucet is mounted from the side, you need to have a spout that is long enough for easy use. If you have a double sink with a side mounting, you may need to consider a faucet with a tall spout and a pull-down spray nozzle.

Confirm that your water supply lines are compatible with your kitchen faucet

Before buying a kitchen faucet, it is critical for you to check the size of the existing water line and the shutoff valves. Most of the modern taps come with ⅜” flex lines. However, some shutoff valves come in different sizes. If, for example, your shutoff valve is ½’’, you will be required to change the valve to be compatible with your ⅜’’ faucet.  It is, however, advisable to change the shutoff valve when installing another faucet.

Consider the outcome you want when choosing the faucet

When choosing your faucet, it is important to consider the overall appearance of your kitchen. It is vital for you to consider the sink accessories. For example, if the soap dispenser, sink hole cover, and air gap are made of stainless steel, it is best to buy a stainless steel faucet. If you opt for a faucet with a brush nickel finish yet the other fixtures are made of stainless steel, the faucet will look out of place.

It is evident that picking a kitchen faucet is not just about purchasing one. Besides considering your budget, it is essential to consider all the factors that will help you get a faucet that doesn’t just fit in with your plumbing but contributes to the beauty of your kitchen.
