PELI PRODUCTS DOUBLES SPACE AT UK, KENT FACILITY

The Leader in advanced solutions for mission-critical cases makes large UK site investment Peli Products, the largest manufacturer of advanced case solutions for mission critical operations, has doubled the size of their office and facilities at its UK Engineering branch, Peli Hardigg, at Brookfield Industrial Estate, Ashford, Kent to 40,000 square feet.

“We have enjoyed some tremendous success in the past few years and, looking forward, we anticipate this growth to further accelerate over the coming years. To address this surge in demand for our solutions we have had to not only expand and modernise our site, but also bring in the latest equipment to increase our productivity and further enhance the excellence and leading-edge of our products,” says Piero Marigo, Peli Products EMEA Managing Director. Out of its facility in Ashford and across its engineering centres in Europe, Peli-Hardigg offers the widest array of
Advanced Case Solutions in the industry starting from its portfolio of more than 500 sizes of rotomolded cases. Its technical packaging division designs and manufactures reusable shipping and storage cases and containers for weapons, missiles, aero engines and spares, providing
protection in the most extreme operating conditions. An experienced team of over 30 engineers and technicians meet customer specifications and anticipate deployment conditions.

Adds Piero Marigo: “The increase in space has also allowed us to create a more efficient manufacturing process – increasing the foam fabrication and foam assembly areas as well as doubling the size of our custom design area, a true differentiator for us in the market. Engineers can customise every point of the designs of the protective system from shock and vibration attenuation to impact protection and operational logistics according to individual product specifications, usage and environmental analysis. As part of our ambitious, multi-year development plan and our focus on innovative solutions, Peli-Hardigg will also increase further the size of its engineering department over the coming months”.

As part of the expansion – which took just ten weeks to complete – Peli Hardigg has invested in a new twin head CNC router to give further capacity for its customised foam area of the business. In addition to this, Peli has been working alongside Schmitz Foam Products BV, who in partnership have installed a foam shredder into the Peli-Hardigg facility. The foam shredder allows Peli-Hardigg to greatly reduce its waste going to landfill, allowing its biggest waste source to be fully recycled into sports impact equipment. Peli-Hardigg has been based at the Kent site since 2003. Peli-Hardigg is a division of Peli Products, S.L.U. and is the Europe, Middle East and Africa Headquarters of Pelican Products, Inc., the global leader in design and manufacture of both high-performance case solutions and advanced portable lighting systems. Billingham unveils premium travel and leisure bag collection

Spacious bags made from strong, weather-proof canvas and finest top-grain leather to last a lifetime of travelling

Cradley Heath, UK – 29 June 2017: Recognised worldwide for its precision-made, tough and weather-proof camera bags, rucksacks and laptop cases, Billingham has ventured into the leisure market with the introduction of a new range of elegant travel bags. As with all Billingham products, they are designed and made in England.

The Billingham Leisure Collection includes:

Billingham Weekender bag – £225
Billingham Overnighter bag – £185
Billingham Thomas briefcase/laptop bag – £225
Billingham Hadley One all-purpose bag – £265
Carrying the signature Billingham logo embossed into leather on the front, these premium bags are built by the company’s expert in-house team from weather-resistant FibreNyte canvas for exceptional durability, colour fastness and protection from the elements. The distinctive, contoured top-grain leather handles are laser-cut, stitched and meticulously hand-finished using unique equipment invented by Billingham’s own engineers.

Thanks to its special composition, the hard-wearing yet lightweight FibreNyte material never requires reproofing, remaining water and heat-resistant for its entire life, providing outstanding protection for the contents inside, making these bags ideal for frequent travelling on business or on vacation.

Each bag features solid brass fittings and is offered in a selection of classic colours with complementary leather tones, including Sage & Chocolate, Black & Tan, Khaki & Chocolate and All-Black.

A family business, Billingham carefully sources and thoroughly tests all textiles and materials, ensuring that every bag is created for maximum strength and reliability, using the most innovative, robust and authentic components. Manufacturing is carried out to painstaking standards of technical precision, and only when the product passes stringent quality checks is it furnished with its own laser-engraved label containing an individual serial number. This represents the Billingham seal of excellence, and allows the bag to be registered, identified and tracked throughout its life. Each model comes with a five year guarantee.

An array of contemporary accessories is available for all Billingham bags, including fine leather luggage tallies and shoulder pads that harmonise perfectly with the design and colour combinations of the range.

Weekender and Overnighter

Perfect for one or two nights away, or as complementary hand luggage for longer trips, the spacious Weekender meets airline hand baggage requirements with dimensions of (W) 550mm x (D) 350mm x (H) 250mm. Designed for fast and efficient packing, the Weekender can be fully unzipped through its entire length using the strong double pullers, and the clever turnover top allows the sides to be peeled backwards completely to create the widest possible opening.

Its reinforced leather handles are stitched, laser-cut, stained and polished by hand for a beautifully smooth finish, and are contoured for exceptional comfort, particularly in prolonged use. Each bag is strengthened with matching leather on all four corners, protecting the bag from wear and tear, however regularly the owner travels.

The comfortable, detachable shoulder sling is manufactured from Billingham’s shuttle woven spun polyester and solid brass fittings for additional durability, and can be completely removed if checking the bag in as hold luggage. For quick and convenient retrieval of smaller, essential items, an open net pocket with leather edging detail can be found inside, in addition to an interior clip for keys, fobs or lanyards.

Available as an optional accessory, a high-strength foam base pad constructed with a wooden centre plinth adds structure and support along the length of the Weekender, while still allowing the body to flex around its width, keeping it comfortable to carry.

Slightly smaller than the Weekender, and ideal for a short break or even as a smart gym or work bag, the compact Overnighter provides generous capacity for everyday essentials. Build to the exacting standards of every Billingham bag, this sophisticated yet rugged overnight holdall offers all the benefits of the Weekender, with shorter external dimensions of (W) 400mm x (D) 300mm x (H) 300mm and a light 0.79kg weight.

Thomas

The perfect companion for business travellers, the supremely padded Thomas briefcase features multiple interior pockets to organise a host of accessories, and has been designed to accommodate most 15” laptops or MacBooks. Practical and convenient, handy leather umbrella straps have been incorporated into the front, safeguarding valuable contents against damage from a damp or wet umbrella. These can be removed if not required on a particular day.

The versatile Thomas has been reinforced with genuine top-grain leather hide along the base for increased strength and defence against knocks or drops, while the ‘ClogBalls’ securing the front pockets and shoulder sling are built from durable solid brass.

Three deep pockets can be found in the main interior compartment, with the front two open to drop in small items such as maps, diaries or sunglasses for easy access. The integrated rear pocket runs for the whole length of the bag and is secured with a zip to safeguard critical items such as passports, travel insurance documents and keys. Billingham has covered the full-length internal pocket zip with a material flap, protecting the enclosed laptop from the zip and enhancing the overall look of the bag’s interior.

Further storage is provided by three external pockets, for items such as plug adaptors or a mouse. The open, full-length exterior pocket on the back supplies a handy place for stowing a newspaper or magazine. Mindful of protecting laptops from possible scratches, Billingham has incorporated a nylon zip into the top of the bag, while the long brass zip pulls help the traveller to find the puller when in a hurry.

Hadley One

The purpose-built Hadley One combines the numerous advantages of a classic roomy holdall with all the special protective elements of a modern Billingham camera bag.

Building on the success and reputation of the Hadley Pro camera bag, which is recognised and favoured by photographers globally, the Hadley One has been created to protect a mid-sized DSLR body and lens, or a compact system camera kit, along with a small laptop or tablet. Its removable, full-height padded insert can be positioned within the bag to divide the interior and provide optimum space for all items, and a second optional insert can also be added, if required. A bespoke, padded laptop sleeve has been stitched into the back of the main compartment, to safely hold a tablet, 13” MacBook Pro or similar device.

A high-strength top handle allows the Hadley One to be grabbed quickly on the go. The re-engineered leather grip makes it exceptionally comfortable and secure to carry, and the adjustable shoulder sling can be removed as required, transforming the bag into a spacious briefcase.

The rear, side and bottom faces of the bag are superbly padded to protect the heavy equipment within, as well as items carried in the outside pockets. External holders can be fitted for even further storage, attached to the thick leather layer, providing a secure mount for valuable accessories. The shoulder sling attachment has been riveted through the leather to form a core structure of the bag.

Following feedback from Hadley Pro owners, Billingham has introduced a durable luggage trolley strap, enabling the owner to hook the bag securely over the handle of a trolley suitcase. Its thoughtful design allows the traveller to access the rear zipped pocket when mounted, while a weather-proof zip closure keeps all contents dry in wet conditions.

The Hadley One is available in three FibreNyte and leather colour combinations.

Harry Billingham, director, said, “Here at Billingham, we have always believed that the beauty is in the detail. With almost 45 years of experience in designing and precision-making the highest quality camera bags, we have gained the trust of photographers around the world. Having successfully created the Weekender bag for our own family’s use when away on business or holidays, we decided to extend our expertise into the travel sector for the first time.

“Our no-compromise approach to manufacturing and service means that customers will benefit from the same superior quality, with full support from our team. Many customers have written to tell us about incredible stories of durability, with photographic equipment surviving extraordinary scenarios. With our new leisure range, we have applied the same rigorous principles and standards, with a choice of bags specifically created for frequent travellers looking for a strong, secure yet stylish way to protect their possessions while on the move.”

adidas Ignites The Boot Game

– Kakari and Predator franchises see progressive updates –

– Elite player feedback sets tone for technical changes –

– Colourways to support All Blacks and Lions players –

adidas Rugby has today introduced IGNITE, a cutting-edge range of rugby specific boots designed to enhance player performance, deliver comfort and assist in the creation of on-field magic in one of the world’s most physically demanding sports.

Following intensive player feedback from superstars of the game such as Beauden Barrett and Maro Itoje, to the up and coming 1st XV players, and hours of research and development, the new IGNITE range drops four boots specifically designed for every player type and position – Kakari x Kelvar®, Kakari Light, Predator Malice Control and Predator Flare.

The Kakari x Kelvar® is made for the Engineroom – the tight-five. This boot features adidas’ winning 6×2 stud configuration, and an advanced sock construction that offers greater ankle support. For the first time adidas has partnered with DuPont to incorporate Kelvar® into rugby boots – a technology that drastically improves the boot’s strength and stability. All of this combines to create the ultimate boot to dominate the scrum.

The Kakari Light is built for the back row Enforcers. The boot combines a lightweight upper and low-cut sock design giving players the explosive power they need to be first to the breakdown. Supportive taping across the upper and a genuine leather toe-box makes the Kakari Light the weapon of chioce for Sam Warburton and Kieran Read.

The Predator Malice Control is for the Playmakers. From the perfect cross-field kick to a difficult sideline conversion, the Predator Malice Control features a new rugby predator system and asymmetric lacing to increase the sweetspot and kicking control, giving players the power to dictate proceedings for the full 80.

Finally, for the players who create magic – the Magicians – the Predator Flare. This super lightweight boot features a seamless sock construction and adidas’ patented SPRINTFRAME outsole, giving players such as Sonny Bill Williams, Anthony Watson and George North the confidence to perform under the brightest lights.

Simon Cartwright, Senior Director of adidas Rugby says, “What you’ll see in the IGNITE range is a boot for all positions and styles, from the Enforcers to the Magicians, we have every player covered. Rugby is an ever-evolving sport, not only have we made technical advancements to keep us ahead of the game, we’ve also injected the attitude of these player types into the IGNITE range, encouraging players to express themselves onfield.” adds Cartwright.

The IGNITE range launches in three player-inspired colourways. The IGNITE Invasion pack will be worn exclusively by adidas sponsored Lions players during the highly anticipated DHL New Zealand Lions Series. The IGNITE Stealth pack will be worn by the World Champion All Blacks from their first test match in June and throughout the Bledisloe Cup and Investec Rugby Championship. Both the Invasion and Stealth packs will be available to purchase from June 1 and June 14 respectively. The final colour in the range, the IGNITE pack, will be released on July 1.

The range starts from €59.95 for junior boots through to €219.95 for elite models, and will be available at adidas stores, major sporting goods retailers, and rugby retailers worldwide, as well as online at www.adidas.com

RIGHT GUARD LAUNCHES THE UK’S FIRST EVER GYM MADE FROM RECYCLED AEROSOLS AT QUEEN ELIZABETH OLYMPIC PARK

??????????????????

The community gym has been created using reproduced aluminum from old deodorant and antiperspirant cans

Right Guard has launched the UK’s first ever gym made from recycled aerosols. The community gym, which has been donated to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, officially opened to the public this week.

A sustainability initiative in partnership with recycling company, TerraCycle and The Great Outdoor Gym Company, enabled Right Guard to create the gym. TerraCycle and Right Guard set up 50 public drop-off points in communities across the country to collect old deodorant and antiperspirant cans. The Great Outdoor Gym Company then repurposed the aluminum to create premium gym equipment for public use at the iconic London venue.

Over 2,500 deodorant cans were used to construct the gym in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park which fitness fanatics can make the most of during the day or night thanks to equipment fitted with electricity generating capabilities. Fixtures such as the spinning bike or cross trainer can light up the central rig meaning that exercise enthusiasts of any ability can compete against one another to produce the most power and illuminate their surroundings. The gym even has mobile phone ports to recharge batteries so that motivational playlists can be used to keep blood and pace pumping. Need an extra ten percent of battery power? Give an extra ten percent of people power.

The gym officially launched this week and was used as a key location for the filming of the Right Guard Challenge on the upcoming series of A League of Their Own. Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp completed strengthening and cardio exercises to get in top condition for an ambitious endeavor that will be revealed when the series returns to Sky1 in the autumn.

Mark Crane, General Manager of Henkel Beauty Care UK and Ireland said, “Right Guard is always working to improve its sustainability program. The initiative to create the Right Guard AEROCYCLE gym has enabled us to construct an environmentally friendly space from recycled aerosols and also to contribute a long term, valuable resource to the local community around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park”

Chris Baker, General Manager of TerraCycle Europe added: “The opening of this gym is the kind of initiative which gets the public excited about recycling and sustainability. The campaign has boosted awareness of recycling used antiperspirant and deodorant aerosols which are used pre and post exercise and could otherwise have ended up in landfill or being incinerated. Now by repurposing this recycled material the Right Guard AEROCYCLE Gym will provide a lasting legacy for the users of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park”

Georgie Delaney, Managing Director of The Great Outdoor Gym Company (TGO), said: “In close collaboration with Right Guard and TerraCycle, TGO has created a completely unique design in terms of the Right Guard AEROCYCLE Gym, to inspire users of all abilities to get active. We are delighted to have provided the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with a best in class space for all generations to get active together. This partnership with Right Guard and TerraCycle really is a perfect fit with TGO’s mission, to drive up activity and increase wellbeing in sustainable ways.”

The gym is open to the public and can be found in the heart of the south of the Park within sight of some of the iconic venues of London 2012. To find the nearest participating AEROCYCLE Recycling Programme public drop off location simply use the postcode search facility at http://www.terracycle.co.uk/en-UK/brigades/aerocycle.

SECURITY CRACKDOWN AS CANINE ‘SHERGAR’ BIDS FOR DERBY GLORY

Irish-trained Clares Rocket is hot favourite for Saturday’s Star Sports English Greyhound Derby at Towcester Racecourse

Wednesday, 28th June 2017 – Towcester Racecourse has stepped up security after a greyhound recently kidnapped and held to ransom is now the red-hot favourite to win Saturday’s Star Sports English Greyhound Derby, World’s biggest dog race.

Clares Rocket was snatched from its kennel in Golden, County Tipperary in December last year in a dramatic raid that brought back memories of equine star Shergar.

The story made headlines across Ireland and the UK as police hunted for the culprits, who demanded 1m euros for the dog’s safe return. The incident ended when the kidnappers were captured as they attempted to hand him over in return for the cash.

But in a remarkable twist of fortune, the dog has now emerged as favourite to win Saturday’s £350,000 competition.

While news of his appearance has excited racegoers, Towcester has moved quickly to ensure the safety of the star greyhound ahead of the event. The track’s security team has drafted in additional staff to guarantee the dog’s safety and there will now be a larger police presence on the night.

Kevin Ackerman, Chief Executive of Towcester Racecourse, said: “Punters are champing at the bit to see Clares Rocket in action, and we’re all excited to welcome him to Towcester this weekend. He’s a seriously talented greyhound and will attract attention everywhere he races.

“We have reviewed our security arrangements and no stone is being left unturned to make sure all the dogs involved in the Star Sports English Greyhound Derby are protected. Each dog will be escorted from the kennels to the track by its own verified security team and we have invested in an enhanced CCTV system to provide comprehensive coverage of the track.

“A night at the races is always an occasion to remember but this is a chance to be part of something special – a chance to see history made – and we can’t wait to see the best greyhounds in the world at Towcester.”

Tickets, priced £20 for adults, are available to buy now at www.towcester-racecourse.co.uk while admission for under 16s is free (please note: this is a ticket only event). Hospitality packages including a four-course meal and private bar are available by calling 01327 353414.

SUPERCONFUSION OVER “SUPERFOODS”, AS ONE IN THREE BRITS ADMIT TO NOT UNDERSTANDING THE TERM SUPERFOOD

Do you find many of the everyday “superfood” terms on food packaging and adverts a little confusing? You’re not alone, as research shows that one in three Brits admit to not understanding what the word superfood actually means, and two thirds do not understand the term antioxidant*.

Although there is no official legal or medical definition, superfoods are cited as nutrient powerhouses that are high in certain vitamins, and minerals**. As part of the research, Brits were also asked to consider their understanding around superfoods, with 1 in 5 miss-associating the term with calories and diet.

The sales of food and beverages offering added health benefits, free-from, and organic properties, are booming in the UK, as more consumers are wising up to reading labels, and consciously trying to improve the quality of foods they are consuming. However it seems they aren’t fully understanding what they are looking for in these labels, and are often misinterpreting the meaning of words associated with superfoods.

When presented with a list of foods considered to be superfoods, only one in ten identified pomegranate juice, blueberries, goji berries, oily fish, green tea and broccoli as foods classed as “superfoods”, and just 7 percent identified wheatgrass, garlic and beetroot.

Philip Vandaele, Brand Manager at Wonderful Brands, said: “As a nation, the UK is becoming increasingly health conscious, however many messages are becoming blurred as the market accelerates, and it is becoming extremely difficult to trust and understand the meaning of these on-trend words, and the health benefits they actually provide.

“Many food and beverages now cite themselves as being a superfood, or containing antioxidant benefits, when the reality is that they may simply contain a small part of one ingredient that fits this criteria.

“Only 3 percent of all respondents described their eating habits as poor, which illustrates the growing trend of becoming a more health conscious nation. There is simply a need for better food education to ensure these people wanting to be healthier, are actually eating healthier!”

Famous for its nutritional make-up, pomegranate juice is also a source of potassium, a nutrient that contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system. By swapping your morning coffee, lunchtime soft drink or evening glass of wine for a 100ml shot of POM Wonderful Juice from concentrate you will be taking in 11.6% of the recommended daily potassium intake for an average adult.

If you want to find out more about the power of the pomegranate, follow POM Wonderful on Instagram (@pomwonderfulUK), Twitter (@POM_UK) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/wonderfulpom).

ENGLAND SQUAD ANNOUNCED FOR BUBBLE FOOTBALL WORLD CUP

Step aside Sterling, Alli, Kane and welcome Tuwai, Fadehan, Jackson, Bridges and Tucker, also known as ‘The Neville Wears Prada’ – who this weekend were crowned as England’s first ever international Bubble Football squad.

The team hope to bounce their way into international glory representing England at The Stag Company Bubble Football World Cup in London in May 2018 following a national qualification tournament.

The qualifiers took place on Sunday 25 June at Powerleague, Shoreditch where players donned inflatable zorbs to play five-a-side football with a twist.

A fast, competitive and tactical game, bubble football is one of the nation’s latest sporting crazes allowing bigger tackles but still demanding high levels of footballing skill.

‘The Neville Wears Prada’ displayed smart footwork, excellent bounce backs, impressive bubble tackles and solid teamwork successfully working their way to the final against ‘Son’s Of Pitches’, beating ‘Football Beyond Borders’ and ‘Seagulls’. The final resulted in a 4-4 finish, leading to extra time and concluding with penalties. The winning team won the penalties 3-1 – proving their performance under pressure!

The squad will spend the next ten months training and preparing for the 2018 World Cup, where the finals are set to take place on Wembley’s hallowed turf.

David Bridges, ‘The Neville Wears Prada’ Captain and ex-professional footballer with Cambridge Utd, Kettering Town and Stevenage FC, said: “It’s unbelievable to think we will be able to say we were at the first ever Bubble Football World Cup and we represented England. Son’s of Pitches were a really hard team to beat, but we just about won it. Now to prepare for next May!”

Rob Hill, The Stag Company CEO & Founder of the Bubble Football World Cup, said: “With Bubble Football being a hugely popular stag activity, we wanted to branch out and invite sportsmen from across the country to have a go at the football-come-zorb phenomenon.

“Having successfully launched the Bubble Football World Cup and getting 12 international teams to register, we just needed an England squad to represent the nation.

“We’re confident that ‘The Neville Wears Prada’ will succeed in the 2018 World Cup and make the footballing nation proud again.”

England’s biggest competition is currently the USA, as the bubble football association boasts 39 leagues.

That said, there is optimism in the air that England will regain its football legacy and preserve its prestige in the sporting world, as hope has been restored that the Bubble Football World Cup could see England lift the first football trophy since the 1966 World Cup!

The Bubble Football World Cup tournament is set to take place throughout the weekend of 19-20 May 2018, where the final will be hosted in Wembley. For more information visit https://www.thestagcompany.com/bubble-football-world-cup.

For rapid absorption and bioavailability: Active capsules contain a patented natural extraction method called Wholistic©, which ensures rapid absorption of turmeric (the formula also contains black pepper for increased bioavailability) to enable all of the 200 plus naturally occurring compounds found in turmeric to be used absorbed and utilised by the body, as well as the other key herbs to support joint and cartilage health.

Turmeric. Contains natural constituents known as curcuminoids, which give this spice its stunning golden colour. Curcuminoids have been shown to have natural anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving activity, including for the joints. [1, 2]
Boswellia. This herb – also known as frankincense – has anti-inflammatory properties too, and may help relieve pain in osteoarthritis sufferers. [3]
Nettle helps the body to get rid of uric acid – a substance that builds up in the joints and causes pain in some types of arthritis and gout.
Ginger supports circulation and blood flow, and also has anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have suggested it can be helpful for joint pain, and also relieve muscle pain from exercise too! [4, 5].
Burdock is traditionally used to support blood circulation, and ‘cleanse’ the blood of toxins.[6]
Active Oil is Pukka’s all-natural topical oil based on a traditional Ayurvedic combination of 35 active organic plant ingredients, Active Oil (suitable for vegans) is a warming and revitalising oil to support circulation and keep you moving.

Ingredients include:

Turmeric, shatavari and ginger – herbs with anti-inflammatory activity.

Valerian – a herb also used in Western herbal medicine for its ability to calm the nerves and support relaxation.

Sun, Burgers and Booze

We all like a drink, well we are British after all.

The sun doesn’t come out very often and when it does we like to celebrate with a cold beer and a BBQ. Or a glass of wine, whatever your favourite tipple is.
It’s almost like there is an unspoken rule. suns out, get the beers in.
Like the two go hand in hand, like Bonnie and Clyde, apple pie and cream, sport and drink.
Rugby has got a far better reputation than football but even so it’s still a large part of the game on and off the field.
This is what I would love you to know:
• If you are sporty and you are into your fitness, then I am guessing you look after yourself. You think about what you eat and when you work out. Thinking about how much booze you drink will also help your health, fitness and performance.
• Alcohol dehydrates you, it is a diuretic. It makes you pee more. One of the best things you can do to help yourself apart from drink less obviously is to drink water in between alcoholic drinks.
• It ages you. Because skin is our largest organ and alcohol dehydrates you, your skin is going to take the biggest hit. Drinking deprives the skin of essential vitamins and nutrients. You can start to look bloated and puffy if you drink regularly.
• It effects your sleep and if you are a parent, sleep is important, particularly if you have young children. When you get to have some sleep you want the quality of it to be good. Most people think that alcohol aids sleep, well it does initially as it relaxes you but later it alters the quality of your sleep as your body works hard to process the alcohol.
• Know your units, how much you are drinking? Why is this important? Yes I know units are silly but what they do is give you a way of measuring what you are drinking. We do this so you know if you are over the limit with driving, but also again if you have small children to care for. If you had a bottle of wine, or 11 pints on a night out, do you know when are you alcohol free? Find out more about units here Unit calculator .
• If you have children talking to them in a factual way about alcohol is really important, particularly teenagers. Being able to give them snippets of information is good. Besides that, role modelling good behaviour around alcohol use is one of the best things you can do. Think about it like this, would you want your teenage son to go to a BBQ or a social event and consume 10 pints? If you do it, it makes it hard to teach them not to.
• Alcohol is bad for you, it’s empty calories, there is nothing of any use in there whatsoever. I don’t care what articles you have read about the health giving benefits of different types of booze. It’s not true.
I am not the fun police honestly. I want you to have fun and have a good time, but I also want you to look after yourself. One of the biggest things you can do is educate yourself about alcohol. Then you are making an informed choice about your body and health.
You can sign up for my free everything you need to know about alcohol videos here Free alcohol videos .

The Q Guild of Butcher’s –Guide to BBQ
Please attribute all comments to Mark Turnbull, Chairman of the Q Guild of Butchers https://www.qguild.co.uk/

The Q Guild of Butchers is a seal of excellence for Britain’s butchers. With 121 members across the UK supplying both consumers and the catering sector, the Q Guild presents an elite group of the finest quality independent meat retailers in Britain synonymous with skill, craftsmanship and above all, quality.
With BBQ week approaching the butchers from The House of Bruar have given us some of their top BBQ’ing tips. Having just been made national champions at the 2017 Q Guild of Butchers annual BBQ Award for their outstanding sirloin steak it’s safe to say they know their stuff!
David Hughes, one of the competition judges, from UK BBQ Magazine, said of the winning product:
“The sirloin steak from House of Bruar was outstanding across the board – the cut, colour, texture and marbling were all spot on, backed up by a melt in the mouth texture and flavour.”
The secret to a successful barbecue, as with many things, is preparation. Here are a couple of fool proof tips to help you become King of the Grill.
First and foremost ensure your barbecue is well oiled. This will prevent your meat from sticking and keep your grill hygienic, avoiding cross contamination.
Choose your fuel where possible. Whether you are using a standalone barbecue or have one fitted in the garden, think about what type of fuel you want to use and the flavour this will impart on the meat. If you’re using charcoal consider adding woodchips to add a sweetness and smokiness to the meat.
The marinade. All that smoke has a strong flavour, so you want to make sure that your meat will stand up to it. Most Q Guild butchers have a wide range of pre-marinaded steaks and chops which are perfect on a barbecue. Or if you prefer to make your own, give the meat plenty of time to soak in all the flavour before cooking.
And now for the meat of the matter.
Lamb – choose a cut off the bone, this will make sure that the meat will cook evenly on the grill. A lamb noisette is a small medallion which has come from the lamb’s loin and is a great cut for the barbecue. Rub the noisette with herbs and spices to give it a little more flavour, rosemary and garlic is a classic combination, and cook from room temperature.
Beef – along with burgers, steak seems the obvious choice for barbecues. Choose a cut with a lot of flavour; rump and flat iron are both tasty and economical choices, or keep it classic with a succulent sirloin. Marinade or season well and cook from room temperature
Pork – you can’t go wrong with sausages. As you won’t be marinading the sausage, choose one which already contains flavourings within the casing; go traditional with Pork & Leek or Pork & Caramelised Onion, or something different with a South African Boerewors. Sausages like kielbasa and bratwurst are ideal for smoking and have loads of flavour to stand up to the grill.
Finally, choose your butcher, Q Guild butchers are award-winning experts in their field. Carrying the Q Guild brand sends out a strong message that they are one of Britain’s best butchers, committed to unsurpassed quality and customer service.

10 Steps to Getting into Great Shape for Summer

How amazing would it be to hit the beach feeling fit, energetic and confident in your body this summer?

According to Julia Buckley, one of Britain’s top fitness trainers and author of best seller, The Fat Burn Revolution (Bloomsbury) there’s still time to make it happen…

If you have a few weeks left before going on holiday you definitely have time to make a difference to how your body will look and, most importantly, how you’ll feel. But what you don’t have time for is dawdling or procrastination. You’ll need to eat right, get a smart training plan and follow it consistently, starting today.

Make this the year you avoid the trap of weeks of denial followed by attempting a last-minute quick-fix – you know that never works. Get on it now and you can absolutely shed that flab and get super-fit in time for beach season.

Here’s what it’s going to take:

1. Plan your attack
Most people don’t stick with exercise because they don’t have a plan. Doing identical daily workouts or wandering into the gym and doing whatever you feel like on the day doesn’t get great results. You need a route map to get you to where you want to be. Find a well-designed programme that suits your goals and lifestyle. If you’re following a good plan, your body can change a lot in just weeks. If you’re not, it probably won’t.

2. Go Harder
I’m always urging my clients to “go harder, not longer”. For maximum fat-burning, body-sculpting results, forget steady types of exercise that you can maintain for long periods. You need varied, intense workouts that leave you totally spent, ideally in less than an hour.

3. Mix it up
Vary your training. This helps keep boredom at bay and reduces your risk of injuries which are often caused by too much repetition of the same movements. It also maximises results by ensuring all your different muscles get fired up and that your body doesn’t get comfortable with one type of exercise.

4. Be real
We’re all busy and sometimes it’s just not possible to get to the gym. So I recommend a training strategy that accounts for this. You can absolutely get an affective all-body workout with no equipment at all and even if you do prefer to exercise in the gym normally, it’s good to have a few kit-free training sessions on file for when you need them.

5. Eat protein
When you train hard, in effect you damage your muscles. That’s how we improve and make progress – the muscle fibres rebuild and become stronger as a result. Your body needs nutrients (especially protein) to make these repairs and improvements which enable you to get fitter and keep torching fat.

6. Do dumbbells
Free weights, that is weights you pick up and hold in your hands rather than the machines you get in gyms, are usually my preferred equipment. Exercising with free weights engages more muscles, which means more fat burning and strengthening benefits.

7. Keep Winning
As well as an ultimate goal, I recommend setting targets for each session. My clients all keep training journals where they record the weights used and reps for every training session – try it. That way you can see at a glance how you performed previously and use that information to set yourself session targets. No one hits all of their session goals every time, but there’s usually at least one move that you make progress in. You’ll probably find you push yourself that bit more when you do this, plus you get to feel like a winner every time you train!

8. Bye-bye comfort zone
Trundling along at a comfortable pace for ever longer durations or distances may suit some people’s goals, but when folks come to me wanting results in fat loss and body shape changes it’s time to say goodbye to their comfort zone. Step it up and work at an intensity that truly challenges you. That’s when changes will happen

9. Go heavy
Lifting heavy weights for low (fewer than ~15) repetitions will super-charge your metabolism and make you stronger. Sure, using light weights for lots of repetitions may help build your muscles’ capacity for endurance. But if fat loss is your main aim, go heavy.

10. Own your own strength
You’re stronger than you think. Don’t ever tell yourself your weak and you can’t pick up weights. You can and you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes.
You probably don’t want to become a bodybuilder and you won’t get a super-muscular-looking physique by accident by doing the type of training I’ve described here. The muscle tissue you add to your body will speed up your metabolic rate and make fat loss easier along with giving you a lean, sculpted shape to be revealed as you strip back the fat. Strength training helps men and women get leaner, stronger and healthier. So pick up those dumbbells, put your plans into practice and start shaping up for summer now.

If you’d like to put the advice above into practice with a results-proven program visit http://juliabuckleyfitness.com/ and start working out with me today.

www.fablittlebag.com

The women of Australia will rejoice this summer now that Fab Little Bag has provided the perfect new solution to discreetly and easily dispose of used sanitary items. These opaque, sealable, 100% biodegradable bags are a girl’s best friend and will ensure you’re never caught out again with a blocked toilet or no bathroom bin.

Summer is the time of year when you are out and about, at the beach, at a music festival, camping trips and more! Have you ever been in a situation where you’ve been caught without a bin? Fab Little Bag is the new summer essential item to keep you out for longer.

FabLittleBag can be opened with one hand, allowing you to pop your tampon or pad in with the other, and can then be easily sealed to ensure no mess and fuss free disposal; never again will you have to maneuver wrapping a tampon in toilet roll or tying it up in a flimsy non-biodegradable nappy sack.

We though t this would make an interesting piece for your Summer Essentials feature as Bec would love the opportunity to discuss how she is tackling consumer problems by introducing new proven products as real solutions.
