Scarlets spread Christmas cheer at Glangwili

The Scarlets were guests of honour Cilgerran Children’s Ward, Glangwili Hospital last week, as they spread some festive cheer to the patients on the ward.

Scarlets stars including Carmarthen’s very own Rhys Priestland and Ken Owens, Wales stars Jake Ball and Samson Lee and the region’s vice-captain Scott Williams visited the young patients at Cilgerran Ward to brighten up their day whilst in hospital during the festive period.

The regional stars spent the afternoon meeting the staff of both Cilgerran Children’s Ward and the Children’s Day Surgery Unit as well as meeting the patients on the ward and their parents.

The visit saw the Scarlets players move from bed to bed visiting patients from across the region, hand out Scarlets goodies and signed Christmas cards as well as posing for photographs.

Scarlets’ Scott Williams said: “These visits are an important part of our work within the community and we as a region are grateful to Glangwili Hospital for giving us the opportunity to come in and meet the young patients.

“There’s never a nice time to be in hospital and it’s particularly difficult for young children at this time of year but the staff here at Cilgerran do a fantastic job in keeping their spirits high and ensure that they enjoy the run-up to Christmas just as they would at home.

“The nurses, doctors and all of the staff here do amazing work and we very much appreciate the opportunity to come in and give a little something back to the community.”

The Scarlets would like to thank all the staff at Cilgerran Ward, Glangwili General Hospital for their warm welcome and a speedy recovery and Merry Christmas to all of the patients. We’d also like to thank Tesco Trostre who donated gifts to the children.
