Ballymoney U14’s travelled to Cookstown on Saturday to play Finn Valley in the final of the Ulster Carpets Bowl. With conditions perfect for rugby and the lads from the “Toon” experiencing playing rugby on a 4G pitch for the first time ,they took to it like a duck to water. From the first whistle the Kilraughts Rd juniors attacked their southern rivals and pegged them inside their “22” for the opening 10 mins. They didn’t give Finn Valley any time to settle on the ball with quick line speed they thwarted any chance of Valley settling their nerves by keeping the pressure on and forcing them into errors. From a lapse in B’money concentration and a cruel bounce on the artificial pitch from a long clearance by Finn Valley saw their centre gather the ball and make his way towards the Ballymoney line…… CLICK HERE for the full report.
