JACQUES BURGER JOINS THE PRIDE IN KENYA >> www.rugbyinafrica.org

Have your tea or coffee ready to take a moment and share in the joy currently being experienced by hundreds of children in Africa, as our sport-for-good programs are up and running in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Just a few weeks ago, our first group of Pride members assembled at Ololo Lodge, on the edge of Nairobi National Park, to take part in extensive team training before commencing our first community rugby program of 2017 in the Mathare district of Nairobi. Flying in from Windhoek, former Saracens player and Namibia national team captain, Jacques Burger, joined our team to lead coaching sessions across five schools and prepare for a huge tournament day at KCA University.

A DIVERSE PRIDE

With over forty volunteers involved this year, representing fifteen countries from all over the world, we’re delighted to announce our 2017 Pride members who will coach 5,000 children across nine African countries between February and September. We commend our team for building an exceptional culture and we look forward to a hugely successful expedition this year.

CSR IN ACTION WITH G4S KENYA

The scale of our operations continues to grow and expand. In G4S Africa, we have a remarkable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Pride Partnership which is enabling significant, long-term and sustainable impact on the ground.

MALAWI COMMUNITY CENTRE BUILD PROJECT

We’re making great progress towards realising one of the charity’s long-standing ambitions: to build a community centre and sports pitch, providing a platform for it to be locally managed. We’ve identified some plots in rural Lilongwe, raised over GBP 25,000 and work is due to start soon.

We appreciate and acknowledge contributions from St. James’s Place Wealth Management and Jason Leonard’s Atlas Foundation. Current Pride member, Iain Gallagher, has raised GBP 5,900 and professional rugby player, Marco Mama – joining the Pride in Zambia and Botswana this May!
