Instonians pick up bonus point in away league win against Dromore
Dromore 12 – Instonians 39
Conditions: dry, firm but overcast
Instonians returned to league action after a week off. It was great to see three new faces in the starting fifteen. This was the first time this season that the three Ulster underage players were released to turn out for their home club. Last year’s School’s Cup winning captain Lewis McNamara was at number 8; he was joined in the pack by big second row Harry Clelland, while Andrew McGregor was at fullback. All three made excellent impressions in their first senior rugby game. Rory McCurrie was on the bench after a long lay-off through injury and soon showed that he has lost none of his impact.
After having kicked off Instonians were penalised around the halfway line on 3 minutes. Dromore kicked for touch but the lost the ensuing lineout to allow scrumhalf Matthew Keane to box kick down into the Dromore half. Although Dromore gathered the ball Instonians turned over the ball at the tackle soon after. An astute kick down into the corner soon had Dromore under real pressure. Dromore could not clear and Instonians started going through the phases. Eventually Dromore were forced to infringe 5 metres from their line. Outhalf Fraser Wright elected to kick for goal and put the away side 3 points up after 7 minutes…………….. CLICK HERE for MORE & PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
