Learning Curve At Lisburn

Service took a squad of 23 to Lisburn on Friday night, for their first 15-a-side Friendly of the season.

Service were full of confidence when they took to the field in Lisburn on Friday night, but soon realised they were up against a more structured, determined force than anticipated.

Some loose play and lack of shape within the Service ranks, allowed Lisburn to dictate the pace and style of play as they ran in a couple of easy unanswered tries, in the first half.

At the break, Service regrouped and came out the stronger and played some clinical rugby which was rewarded with a Danny Ansell try and Peter Hoskins conversion.

With so many players to play, Service lost their rhythm as the subs ‘rolled’ on and coupled with one or two others picking up a knock or two, Lisburn upped their game to finish the stronger on the night, running in a another couple of tries without reply.

Plenty to work on at training next week before the Club splits next Saturday with the 1st XV hosting Limavady as the 2nds head to Ards in the last set of Friendlies before the season gets underway in earnest.

Thanks again are extended to our travelling support and also to Davy Irwin from Lisburn for hosting us on the night.
