Last month the club went on an excellent tour to France. Some great game time under the belt v Gruissan & Leucate and a good few nights sampling the local……. wine! made for a great tour both on and off the pitch. Meanwhile the ladies section have been busy again this off season developing their rugby and a report has been compiled below. Something very similar in vein to the development plans of the mens section.

Some club notes below
A large emphasis was put on a recruitment drive by coaches and committee members alike resulting in the addition of some great talent to the club from around the province.
What we have assembled is probably the strongest squad of players in my time at the club, and a group of players who now have the experience of what it takes to play and win in the AIL.
Our first goal is to improve. Each year we have made small steps forward, whether it be matches won in the ail or total points scored.

City of Armagh Rugby Club have equally been supporting the development of their Ladies’ section for a number of years now. The aim of the development plan is to have Ladies’ teams at all levels ie Minis, Youth and Seniors.
Under 15s and Under 18s have become well established and, apart from a couple of seasons, has now been going for over 10 years. Last year saw 35 girls registered and playing at Under 15, Under 18 and Tag levels. Our next fledgling project has been to introduce a specific girls’ Mini Section. Already 5 girls have signed up for Saturday mornings at 9.30 and we have female coaches dedicated to progressing the girls’ development. This is for all girls of Primary School age. This younger Mini Section tends to concentrate, initially, on Tag Rugby. with Contact Rugby gradually introduced as their experience and confidence grows. Those playing, so far, have found it great fun and many friendships have been formed.
The Club is also very interested in starting a Senior Ladies’ Team. We are in meetings with past players to establish a core of participants, which we can add to. The aim would be to train at weekends to facilitate any University students who would be interested in coming along. As with all Club teams, we are always looking for volunteers and coaches to help support our Ladies’ Section. If you are interested in playing or coming along as a coach/volunteer, you would be made very welcome.
